Black Websites Save Energy Compared To White Websites

At Direct Design Now we believe in doing anything that will improve our environment and reduce energy consumption. If you look at our websites - (excluding vertustudio.com and emarcnetwork.com) notice that most color schemes are based off of black.

Billions of searches a day are performed on all sorts of search engines, most of which lay on a white background. (Google, Yahoo, Ask.com) If these websites were black it could save near 3,000 Megawatts a day. Compare this to the average energy use of a 2 or 3 bedroom house (18,000 Killowatts) and it starts to make sense.

Also Facebook consumes 5% of all internet use also laying on a white background usuing extreme energy.

It would be great if all websites were black but don't expect that to be happening too soon, these companies color schemes are their identification.

Check out Blackle.com is a sister version of google just on a black website.
