Since Myspace.com launched in January of 2004 Social Media Websites have been sprouting up left and right. Since the Social Media Craze had set in we have seen some truly amazing statistics from these websites that no one could have ever imagined when the internet was born. Facebook recently passed 400 million members, Youtube has over a billion video views a day and Twitter just also recently passed 10 Billion tweets.

There is no doubt that the Social Media Market has opened up a new way to reach a whole new audience. Over the years we have seen many companies jump into this Social Wave. In this blog we are discussing the Top Five Richest Americans and the way they and their companies utilize social media.

Warren Buffett happens to be on three of the social networking sites we are focussing on, amazing for a 79 year old man. I can't imagine Warren Buffett sitting at a computer Tweeting which makes sense since he only has one Tweet. The astonishing thing is that he has 29,525 Followers with just that one Tweet as well as being listed 894 times.

Lawrence Ellison is our least active user of social media on our list. He does have a Facebook page but it does not seem like it has been updated since Feburary 19th. Given the business he is in it makes sense that he does not spend much time riding the Social Wave.

Black Websites Save Energy Compared To White Websites

At Direct Design Now we believe in doing anything that will improve our environment and reduce energy consumption. If you look at our websites - (excluding vertustudio.com and emarcnetwork.com) notice that most color schemes are based off of black.

Billions of searches a day are performed on all sorts of search engines, most of which lay on a white background. (Google, Yahoo, Ask.com) If these websites were black it could save near 3,000 Megawatts a day. Compare this to the average energy use of a 2 or 3 bedroom house (18,000 Killowatts) and it starts to make sense.

Also Facebook consumes 5% of all internet use also laying on a white background usuing extreme energy.

It would be great if all websites were black but don't expect that to be happening too soon, these companies color schemes are their identification.

Check out Blackle.com is a sister version of google just on a black website.
